My Story
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria.
I moved to South Africa in 1987 after having met my husband Dale. We lived in various part of South Africa over the years and settled on a small-holding, on the outskirts of East London, in 2000. We have been married since 1989 and have two grown children. We speak a mixture of German and English at home, as German is my mother tongue.
At school I chose to go in the direction of accounting and book-keeping, which earned me an income for many years, however, the passion was lacking. Later in life, I developed an interest in Psychology and chose to study Psychology in earnest, at the University of Fort Hare, East London. I graduated Cum Laude and am now practicing as a Counselling Psychologist in private practice from my practice at home as well as at Intercare in Gonubie and Life Hospital Rehabilitation Center in East London. I have qualified as a mindfulness based practitioner at the University of Stellenbosch and am running 8 week's Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses on a regular basis.
I am passionate about psychology in general and mindfulness based meditation work in particular. I am living my dream: being engaged with people!
I enjoy being in a position to offer help to people that are struggling in their lives, often drawing on my own past and life experiences.
I consult with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples. My approach is a holistic approach, meaning that I take the individual as well as the greater social context into perspective, never only just treating the problem but always looking for the cause and at the background of the people I see. My motto is "the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem" (David Epston).
